Best area of IT to move into.

Guys, two questions. 1. what is the best area of IT for someone to move into, in terms of long term demand, pay and no chance of having job offshored - assume this person has an techie background . 2. if a person doesn't have an IT degree or background, what would be the best area in IT for him to move into, in terms of a good long term role which doesn't require techie knowledge but is still a decent role.

  • As with all jobs, the safest jobs are client facing, most IT roles can be out sourced . the roles least liekey to be hit are "go-between" jobs like consulting, sales, busines analyst (not techy but a role with liases with the business). Some companys wil refuse to ofshore jobs purely to prtect copy rights, they feel safer paying a higher labour cost then risk some one in asia stealing the soure code are entering the market as a competitor where they would normally face high cost of entry!
