Move from engineering software to financial.

I have a Maths degree and a PhD in engineering and have been writing software for an engineering company for 12 years and am considering a change. Could someone point me in the direction of a website or maybe a book which would describe what software and mathematical skills are required to work for a software company in finance? I have seen adverts for software engineers in finance which claim to require no prior financial experience but I want to be able to assess whether I would be suited to and actually enjoy such a post.
