3 years profitable track record trading prop. But no degree. Advice needed getting into a large institution

I have traded for trading arcades, built a good track record, both market making in energy spreads and managed an in house fund which returned 13% with a 4% darwdown in my first year. But i went straight from college into broking before trading. So have lots of experience and skills yet no degree. At a loss of how to get around this as i dont want to go to uni now at 25 i as i want to start earning some financial security. Want to move away from prop trading into an institution for the long term career prospects. Thanks

  • With a good track record I don't see the problem. Right now the market is bad. But do you want to be a prop trader at the bank too. Work your contacts, see what headhunters can do for you (not much normally, but ask anyway).

  • If you are good, why would you want to leave prop anyways?

  • learn to spell...and then realise that at the moment you have no actual 'skills' to offer to the wider UK economy. my advice - leave the 'city', learn a trade and achieve some financial security the honest way.

  • These guys are just having a dig at you. Why do you want to leave if you are making good money. Don't think someone will hire you on a energy market making desk, so you can collect the fees. Theres already someone in that seat. If you can replicate your prop book and it's scalable at a bank or fund, maybe there is room for you. All i can say is apply and try else stay where you are and continue making money
