Yes it is doable, but it is difficult in the best of times and your timing now isn’t great. Many banks are trying to move people around within sales / trading and therefore might prefer to consider (unskilled) internal candidates over external ones. All I can suggest is to leverage your contact network. If you work in a brokerage now, I’m assuming that you have contacts with the banks that you deal with. Be their best contact ever. Be knowledgeable. Be helpful. Applying directly to HR with a lack of experience will be very difficult, so you are going to need someone internally to sponsor you or at least push to make sure your CV gets seen at all, let alone by the right people. So use your relationships to get into the bank.
