Desperate for move to Inter Dealer Broking. How can I improve my chances?

I currently work in Software Sales but dont have any relevant FS experience or contact book. I have a lot of transferrable skills and am confident that given an opportunity I can succeed in IDB. What exams etc could I do to prove my determination? Any other suggestions on how I can improve my chances of getting noticed and winning an opportunity?

  • Just apply, it's more to do with personality-fit than anything else. Either you have what it takes or you don't. A foreign language may help though. The bigger IDB firms such as ICAP offer a graduate (up to 5yrs post-graduation) trainee programme.

  • Im the same as brianoc actually - i come from a Derivatives Market Risk background and broking is fast paced and also has the building client relationships element as well.. There are not many brokers with entry schemes out there and it seems that speculative applications is the way forward right? Is there also a website with a solid list of all the derivative brokers in LONDON? Im passionate about the markets, excellent language skils and very hungry to suceed - any more advice would be appreciated?
