  • Network internally with staff. There's no formal way, really, to enter finance. If you're in support, get to know the managers and staff whose machines you work on.

  • Combining IT and Finance is laudable, but not as easy as you might think. Unless you are an M&A banker / equity research person focussed on the IT sector or work in an IT company in financial planning, I find it hard to see where you would use both sets of skills in depth. What do you want to do in Finance? CFA and CPA will lead to very different careers. CPA is a great degree but mainly for people that want to be in accounting roles - could be more middle / back office in investment banks or CFO/Treasury staff in the corporate world or obviously in an accountancy firm. CFA was originally geared towards equity research and analytical financial roles but now has become more broadly recognised in the investment banking / hedge fund world. So if you are leaning towards the corporate side of things I'd opt for a CPA or similar qualification, but if you want more mainstream investment banking then go for a CFA. As John says, networking is also necessary. With a strong network you can get away wtih lesser qualifications / with moving while you are still studying for more relevant qualifications.

  • Thank you for your answer. I used to work in Investment bank, but mainly to code programme for analyst. They dont know how to write code, and i dont know what these math graphs mean. I'm working in the back office to implement and maintain applications for operators.

  • Doing SAP Financials can solve your problem partly. You need to have Finance knowledge for a successful SAP Finance Consultant. Thus it is a combination of simple programming and finance & accounting. There is also an option of going for any degree in IT audits.
