Keen on doing MSc in finance to break into asset management/ IB sector.whats best place for that-LSE,Imperial?

have an engineering degree and currently working as futures analyst in the city firm but looking to break into asset management/ ivestment banking side of things. whats best move for me, do CFA or MSc in finance. what institution is valued most? LSE or Imperial? thanks for helping out

  • Looking round the bank, it seems that the standard pedigree is for - asset management CFA...- for IB, its an MBA (eg LBS); for trading its almost certainly Imperial (heard good things re: their MSc in Risk Management and Financial Engineering). Good luck

  • LSE is the gold standard for M.Sc. finance. However, since you are already working and will have some experience, an MBA may be a better way to get into investment banking. An M.Sc. will get you into an analyst position but an MBA to associate level. For more finance focused programmes, Wharton and Chicago are good. HBS of course always good more generalist school. In Europe Insead is #1 and LBS #2 in the minds of most bulge bracket banks - and the only two that are really perceived as being on par with the US schools (forget all the official rankings which take a lot of irrelevant things into account if what you care about is employability in IBD).
